Chair and NED Appointments for a Growing For-Purpose Business
The Challenge
Carnelian was approached by a rapidly growing for-purpose retail business supporting disadvantaged children. The presenting need was for a new non-executive chair. There was a desire to find a chair who could open doors with commercial customers, champion the cause, work with the founder-CEO, and support the growth agenda of this small business.
Our Approach
Following a briefing with the Board, our search strategy involved mapping out relevant networks and gathering recommendations. This resulted in detailed conversations with four individuals for the Chair position. We also presented to the Board a large list of individuals who had expressed interest in the business during our conversations, and who might prove to be valuable relationships in the future.
Our Impact
The Board met all four of the candidates we longlisted. One was successfully appointed as Chair, another was invited to the Board as a regular Non-Executive Director.
